Pirate Radio @ Buffalo, Cardiff
Fri 23 May
We need more grime on this page, and
therefore in South Wales. Thankfully the
people at Pirate Radio agree with us and
have had the foresight to book one of the
scene’s most celebrated and longstanding
MCs. Probably better known as one third
of the Newham Generals along with
Footsie and DJ Tubby, he has been singled
out as one of Dizzee Rascal’s heroes
of youth, which led to him signing the
collective to his Dirtee Stank imprint in
2005. Hopefully the Pirate Radio crew
have more of the same lined up.
“We are looking at expanding Pirate Radio
into live bookings,” explains promoter
George, “as this is not showcased here
at the moment, and we feel the people of
Cardiff would love events like this in a
venue like Buffalo which has an amazing
buzz when it’s full to the rafters. We’ve
enjoyed an excellent series of events
working with Buffalo so far this year,
bringing some huge names including
Jackmaster, Hot Since 82, Justin Martin
and many more. Our regulars are a mix
of locals and students enjoying garage,
grime and bass. Residents include Tony
Blitz (CRST), Gavin Woo, Comfort, MC
Local, MC Traxx and Gaz Llewelyn.”
Also on the line-up are the ever-reliable
Buffalo residents plus more names to be
confirmed.

TOGETHER FESTIVAL
Carmarthen Showground
Sat 31 May
Some of you may experience déjà vu upon hearing that this new annual event is the only dance festival in
Wales, so let’s get the obvious comparisons to a certain defunct Swansea entity of similar ilk out of the way.
“A few years have passed since the demise of Escape Into The Park,” says festival co-promoter, Craig
Davies [pictured here]. “Unfortunately it lost its identity and what the event was about compared to its
early days, after it was sold to a major company. I wouldn’
