CAERPHILLY FOOD FESTIVAL
Foodies will fall
head over heels for
Caerphilly’s third food
festival as Jordan Harris
acquires a taste for
this year’s line-up.
AFTER a successful festival last year, that saw
over 10,000 people descend on the centre of
Caerphilly, the town’s famous food festival is
back and bigger than ever. The free festival will
host cookery demonstrations and with an array
of food exhibits there’s sure to be something to
suit every palette.
Of those exhibitors already confirmed, Yellow
House Kitchen will be representing the
carnivores with their Great British frankfurter
hot dog, Native Breeds charcuterie as well as
hosting the Great Hot Dog Challenge so be sure
to wear elasticated bottoms!
The Preservation Society will be serving up their
award winning handmade chutneys, pickles and
preserves and the boys from Tudor Brewery will
be pulling pints of their multi-award-winning
handcrafted Welsh ale.
It couldn’t be a food festival in Caerphilly,
however, without some cheese and The
Blaenafan Cheddar Company will be selling
some of their 15 distinctive cheddars. Matured
at the bottom of Big Pit and made using a variety
of ingredients including Penderyn whisky and
Reverend James beer, their cheese is definitely
worth a taste.
To accompany the abundance of food stalls and
demonstrations, there will be entertainment for
all ages with crafts, falconry and rides proving
that this isn’t a meal to go, but one to spend the
whole day on. Grab your knife and fork, loosen
that belt and head to Caerphilly for a good ol’
feastival.
