Taking place in Hay-On-Wye, over 11 days, How The Light Gets In has plenty on offer to expand your mind and move your body. This year talks include bestselling author and scientist Lawrence Krauss arguing if philosophy and science should be friends or enemies; Labour politician Diane Abbott taking on the tax avoidance of big boys Starbucks and Google; comic book icon Warren Ellis asks if myths and fantasies help or hinder us; and comedian Marcus Brigstocke host a series of debates – the highlight of which looks at whether facts are really fiction. The festival is more than just talking, however, and there is plenty of music to move your heart as well as your mind. Welsh pop princes Charlotte Church, electronic master Mr Scruff and fun-filled indie-pop band The Hoosiers are just a few of the musicians strutting their stuff. Who: Charlotte Church, Mr Scruff, Diane Abbott, Marcus Brigstocke How much: Festival pass £24-£78, Individual events £4-£18 Info: www.howthelightgetsin.iai.tv
