WILD THING
With the new series of Rhys
Jones’s Wildlife Patrol airing
this month Dr. Jones tells us about
his wild adventures.
“It’s like CSI otter basically,” says Rhys as he
describes what can be expected of the new series of
his wildlife who Rhys Jones’s Wildlife Patrol.
The show, which sees the doctor travelling the
world and helping local wildlife, started last
summer. One half Sherlock and one half Steve Irwin
the friendly and fascinating Jones has been given a
second season to solve even more animal mysteries.
“We’ve got an otter which dies under very
mysterious circumstances,” he explains “and we’ve
got to figure out how this otter died and why it
died. Otters are a European protected species and
we’ve got to know what’s going on
“I also get called in to identify a mummy. So I’ve
got a 3000 year old mummy and I’ve got to identify,
without damaging the mummy, what’s inside this
embalmed case.
“It’s a great mix of science, wildlife crime and
conventional rescues. We rescue a couple of
damsels in distress when they find a giant spider
on their roof!”
