WHAT’S ON OUR RADAR THIS MONTH.
BRIEFLY
ART
THE WALES MILLENNIUM
Centre’s Weston Studio launches its
spring season with plenty to choose
from this month. The smaller theatre
very much has its heart in personal
shows and March alone includes
impressions in The Only Way Is
Downtown, a woman and her dog in
Major Tom and nightmarish puppetry
in The Shop Of Little Horrors.

WILD ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY
The Wildlife Photographer Of The Year competition is nearly 50 years old, and the
quality of the artworks has never stopped growing. Housed initially at the Natural History
Museum in London, the competition’s annual exhibition is now going on a world tour,
and you can catch its stunning images when it stops off in Cardiff this spring. Categories
include Wildscapes, Urban Wildlife and Underwater Worlds, so there’s an incredibly
vibrant and varied selection on show. It has a social angle as well, with space given to
photos depicting the effect humanity has had on the natural world; the winner in the
photojournalist category is a brutal look at the ivory trade. But if you’re looking for the
unadulterated pleasure of seeing creatures great and small in all their glory, then the
exhibition promises to be an Ark-worthy treat. LW
National Museum Of Wales, Cardiff, Sat 29 Mar-Sun 22 June. Admissions: free.
