The original purveyors of Bank Holiday Sunday naughtiness continue to roll on, following part one
of their 16th birthday celebrations back in May with Paul Trouble Anderson. The lead name this time
is Achim Brandenburg, who under his Prosumer guise is a valued member of Berlin’s AdK stable and
works closely with labelmate Murat Tepeli.
“The big news for me and Murat is our baby, the new label Potion,” explains Achim. “We are starting
with a fantastic release by Murat later this year. There will also be a Prosumer release on it. Plus we are
starting to play live again, something we are very excited about. For the rest of the AdK crew, we have
new artists joining the family. We are very happy that House Of Traps, the man behind the Firecracker
and Unthank labels is now on our side.”
Mixing with such fellow talent does his creativity no harm, and he plans to bring that vibe to
Lamerica’s house room this evening.
“I have a couple of days off before, so I will be relaxed and have spent time with my records,” says
Achim. “Think of someone who loves his music, has the urge to share it with people and is very
happy about being able to do that. I’ve always had a good time in Cardiff and I’m sure it is going to
be another one. I have to admit that so far I have only been to Cardiff a couple of times, the first time
just after Christmas in 2010. Wales is high on my travel list, after having moved to the UK I want to see
and explore more of the country. Everyone keeps telling me that I will love it. I did get to experience
Gottwood in North Wales in June. There are some wild things roaming those woods! Arriving for only
the Sunday afternoon was definitely too late to get the full experience. It was a beautiful venue and
the people there were up for a good time.”
Others on the bill include Groove Assassin, Craig Bartlett, The Organ Grinder and Craig Smith.

UNCLE DUGS & BILLY DANIEL
BUNTER
Catapult Presents @ Koko Gorilaz,
Fri 22 Aug
For reasons that have been lost to the
mists of time, we neglected to preview
this ravemungous duo’s last appearance
in south Wales, circa June 2013. Catapult
promoted that, likewise the debut Cardiff
date for Simon ‘Uncle Dugs’ Duggins
[pictured], around Christmas 2012. Which
Buzz also didn’t preview. Making up for
lost time, then, understand that as a DJ
tag team, Dugs and Billy Bunter – Daniel
Light when he’s off duty – are about as
good as it gets if you want to go back to
the old skool of jungle, hardcore, rave and
probably some other seismic 90s dance
developments too.
By the time Dugs got started DJing, in the
mid-90s, Billy was already tearing up the
UK’s biggest raves. As hardcore spawned
not only jungle but also happy hardcore,
Billy took the latter path, becoming a big
cheese on the hard dance scene. Dugs,
meanwhile, moved in speed garage and
grime circles, and spent six years corunning pirate station Rinse FM. When
it achieved legal status in 2011, he was
given a show on it, and gained a stellar
rep as its jungle specialist; his 2012 mix
CD on Rinse’s label is about as good as
these nostalgia seshes get. Latterly, Billy’s
returned to his junglist roots and teamed
up with Dugs for a series of Thames boat
parties, the fabled mayhem of which
will be replicated best as possible here.

RØDHÅD
Mood @ Undertone, Cardiff
Sat 16 Aug
“I want to get people forgetting their
outside reality. They should not think
about what’s going on in the past or
in the future, they should live in the
music during my set, riding the waves
of Rødhåd.” Profound
