BALLOON ART FESTIVAL Red Dragon Centre, Cardiff Bay, Sat 17-Sun 18 Aug Admission: free. Info: 02920 764100 www. thereddragoncentre. co. uk The UK’ s biggest Balloon Art Festival is back in Cardiff Bay for the second time this August. Following the success of 2011( which saw over 35,000 visitors), the Red Dragon Centre has teamed up again with Dr Bob Balloons to transform the building into a tropical haven of animals and plants, including a literally unmissable 18 foot giraffe. The sculptures are made from over 40,000 biodegradable balloons and 30 litres of nitrogen. Twelve award winning balloon artists and instructors will be working alongside Dr Bob for more than 1500 man hours to create this tropical masterpiece. The festival will be opened by actor Jay Ruckley( from CBeebies’ Grandpa In My Pocket) who will be available for autographs from 12pm. A family-friendly, helium-filled tropical paradise awaits.
