Speaking of pennies, most homes dabble between 25.000 to 170.000
MUR per month. Rents vary depending on the neighborhood, area of
the home, and the facilities it comes equipped with. Travel light and
bid adieu to long queues at Ikea – most homes in Mauritius come fully
or partially furnished. When moving in, an additional month’s deposit
applies as part of rental regulations. Estate agent’s fees are usually the
same as a month’s rent. In return, they ensure the landlord covers the
maintenance and that everything sails smoothly with your move.
In addition to monthly rent, you can expect electricity and water bills
too. You can choose to activate wireless internet, a landline connection,
satellite television for an addition charge.
