REDEFINE THE MEANING

OF PACK IN, PACK OUT

M ystery Ranch, based in Bozeman, Montana, has become a global brand with worldwide production and distribution.

The owner’ s, Dana and Renee Sippel-Baker started the company in 2000. After a successful innovation period, Mystery
Ranch was approached by the Navy SEALs for custom packs in 2004. That relationship significantly altered the company’ s design strategy. The feedback from the military and Special Forces users provided a better understanding of what customers wanted and how best to give it to them.
The Sippel-Baker’ s took what they learned from these relationships and applied it to design and construction of all product lines for high level customers in military, wildland fire, backpack hunting, and mountaineering.
This year, we are proud to stock Mystery Ranch packs at North 40 Outfitters. Mystery Ranch comes from a long line of state-of-the-art pack designers for military, hiking, hunting, and firefighting. The patented load carriage systems of Mystery Ranch are what makes their packs unique and allows them to perform flawlessly in the field.
This year we are adding the Pintler, Metcalf, and Scapegoat 25 for packs. We are also bringing in Mystery Ranch’ s new quick draw bino holder system that has a fully integrated holster.

METCALF

The Metcalf is considered the workhorse of the entire Mystery Ranch hunting line. This pack is large enough to carry a week’ s worth of gear, yet can collapse small enough for a day hunt. Weighing in at 6.1 lbs., the Metcalf features the Overload Shelf for packing out meat and has the Guide Light Frame for decreased weight and increased strength. The Metcalf can hold 4333 Cubic Inches / 71 Liters of gear.

“ This is Mystery Ranch’ s # 1 selling pack period, but specifically in the Rocky Mountain. It is built for everything from a single day, to a week in the Bob Marshal. This is on the Guide Light Frame— that frame is my favorite feature. Here’ s why: it’ s based off a military design we made minus a portion of the weight. We built this for the back-country hunters and the people who go far. It has an Over Load Shelf perfect for separating quarters and sustainment gear while keeping the heaviest section of your pack( the animal most likely) closest to your body.
Another feature on this bag is the detachable lid— take it off the main bag and use it for a kill kit, or a day bag— or when you go out glassing. It’ s almost like two bags in one.”
