Buy-side Perspectives Issue 6 | Page 31

CAREERS NEWS The jobs market in financial services is one of the most active and dynamic in the world. Here are a few of the people moves that you may have missed in the last month: This month sees a number of notable moves in the world of buy-side trading. Perhaps most notably, Adrian Fitzpatrick, head of dealing at Kames Capital (formerly Aegon Asset Management) is retiring after 40 years in the industry. During his time at Kames, Adrian has also been a non-executive director at Liquidnet, and a passionate critic of HFT and defender of the long-only investor. Another significant departure this month is Huw Gronow, who is leaving Principal Global Advisors after 12 years. Gronow has been an advocate of improving data quality in markets and a supporter of the emancipation of the buy side as asset managers move from reliance on brokers to the “front seat” of control. On the positive side, David Myers has been promoted to head of trading at Martin Currie, while Sheena Kelman, head of dealing, is now MiFID II project lead. Separately, Matthew McLoughlin has been promoted to head of trading at Liontrust. In addition, Dale Brooksbank is leaving State Street Global Advisors after ten years to work for a Dubai fund. Other career changes this month include Melissa Tuttle, who is leaving EVP Pimco, while Jacqueline Loh departs from Schroders, and Tony Russell moves on from Newton Investment Management. Meanwhile, Bill Baxter at FMR will be in London for the next 12 months from Boston. Congratulations to you all! We wish you every success in your new roles.
