Eunice Hafer
Resident of the Month
Eunice Hafer was born in Min-
nieville, Mo. on May 28, 1928, to Harry
and Lilly Wynn. Eunice was born into a
large, loving family, having six sisters
and four brothers. Her father worked in
a rock quarry and her mother ran a
boarding house.
Eunice graduated from Henry Clay
High School in 1946. She worked as a
nurse aide at the Excelsior Springs Hos-
pital and also worked in home care ser-
vices.
On Oct. 19, 1948, Eunice married the
love of her life, Homer Hafer. The cou-
ple were married in the doorway of her
parent’s bedroom. Eunice’s father had
cancer but wanted to see his daughter
get married, so they took the wedding to
him. It was a very special moment for
her father to be with Eunice on their
wedding day.
The couple moved to Haskins, Neb.
where Homer worked in the Naval Am-
munition Depot. Eunice became a stay at
home mom to their seven children: Judy,
Jeannette, Jean, David, Bonnie, Connie,
and Nancy.
The family later moved to Los Ala-
mos, N.M., where Homer was the secu-
rity inspector for the atomic energy
commission. After 6 1/2 years they
moved back to Nebraska. The family
later would move to Weaubleau, Mo.
Homer and Eunice were blessed with 66
wonderful years of marriage. The family
shared memories together. Eunice
is also blessed with 19 grandchil-
dren and six great-grandchildren.
Eunice enjoys various hobbies
including reading and sewing,
she loves flowers and house
plants, and she enjoys listening to
music. She is a member of the
Weableau Christian Church.
Eunice moved to Butterfield in
July 2016. She enjoys the art
class, bingo, music, socials, out-
ings, church, and visiting with her
many friends. Thank you for
sharing your story with us,
Eunice. We are blessed you are a
part of the BRCC family.
