Lucille Hoffer Resident of the Month Lucille Hoffer was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Eminence, Mo., to Wes and Pearl Sconce. Lucille was the young- est of seven children with five broth- ers and one sister. Lucille graduated from Eminence High School in 1949. She attended Missouri Baptist College and Southwest Missouri State Univer- sity majoring in education. Lucille met the love of her life, Wayne Hoffer, at church and the two were soon married in 1953. Wayne worked at the county extension office and Lucille taught at a rural school. In 1958, the couple moved to a farm in Bolivar where they raised chickens. They farmed for several years raising over 15,000 chickens every 10 weeks. Wayne would later work as a teacher at Morrisville and Lucille worked as an administrative assistant in the Bolivar High School principal office for 27 years. The cou- ple were blessed with a son, Nathan Hoffer, of Bolivar. Lucille is a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and has enjoyed teaching Sunday school and being a choir member. From the age of 15, she has always been actively involved in her church activities. Other hobbies have included playing cards and traveling 39 of the 50 states with Wayne. She is a member of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association. Lucille and Wayne were married for a wonderful 60 years when he passed away in 2013. Lucille moved to BRCC in 2017. She enjoys spending time with her family, including her grandson, Silas, and granddaugh- ter, Bonnie, and her husband, John Shikles. Lucille also enjoys playing bingo and visiting with her many friends. “ I am so thankful for a nice place to live and lots of friends,” said Lucille.
