Laura Harris,
Resident of the Month
Congratulations to Laura Harris on
being selected as the resident of the
month for March. Laura was born July
31, 1931, in Caney, Kansas to Lester
and Allene Swank. Laura had three
sisters, and one brother. She attended
the Caney High School.
Laura met Jack Harris and the cou-
ple was soon married in 1949. After
marriage the couple would move to
Oklahoma. Jack worked as a welder on
a pipeline and Laura worked as a
housecleaner and operated concession
stands.
The couple were blessed with three
sons. Eric lives in Oklahoma, Rob and
his wife, Lorie, live in Bolivar, and
Paul passed away in 2014. Laura is
blessed with three grandchildren Kel-
lie, Stephen, and Caleb. She has one
great granddaughter, Eden, and a great
grandson, Jack, due in May. He is be-
ing named in honor of her husband,
Jack.
Laura’s hobbies and activities have
included crocheting afghans and dol-
lies, baking, cooking, and volunteering.
She was a Sunday school teacher and
worked with the G.A. girls at church.
She was blessed to be able to lead all
of the young girls in her group to the
Lord. She also enjoyed being involved
with her children’s activities and vol-
unteering with the concession stands
at school .
Laura and Jack were mar-
ried for a wonderful 50 years
when he passed away in 1999.
Laura moved to Butterfield
in 2017. She enjoys reading,
coloring, watching television
and spending time with her
family. Laura is a member of
the Bolivar First Baptist
Church.
