Faye Breshears,
Resident of the Month
Marjorie Faye Breshears was born Jan. 14, 1928,
in a small community southwest of Bolivar, Mo., to
parents Robert “Rob” and Mary May Rinck. Faye
also had one older sister Retha Hunt.
When Faye was one year old the family moved to
a farm approximately five miles north of Bolivar. Her
father was a farmer and her mother was a homemaker.
Faye lived at this location until she graduated high
school and became married and left the home. Faye
walked about one and one-half miles one way to
school while attending Union Grove School, first
grade through eighth grade. After grade school she
attended Bolivar High School and graduated in the
class of 1946.
Faye was married to Marvin A. Breshears, who
also attended Bolivar High School. The couple had
three children; Karen, Max, and Lindel. While raising
their family they lived on a few different farms in
Missouri. Later the family lived on a farm in the Kan-
sas City area until the end of 1964. In January of
1965 they moved back to a farm in the Bolivar area.
The farm was located about six miles north of Bolivar
just across the road from where Faye had grown up.
The farm included about 240 acres. In 1968 they built
a new house replacing the original and resided there
until late in 2016. Over the years of their marriage
Marvin farmed and worked mostly as a carpenter.
Faye worked as a homemaker and at Western Electric
for five years from 1959 thru 1964. This work was
fast paced and very meticulous, as it involved work-
ing with tiny filaments. They lived in the Kansas City
area for 10 years before moving back to Bolivar. They
lived on this farm a little over fifty years enjoying
their time together with family and friends. Marvin
was an avid fisherman and Faye accompanied him on
many occasions. They went on camping trips staying
in a recreational vehicle. They also went on trips with
other family members to Canada, Colorado, Arizona,
New Mexico, and Wisconsin. They made numerous
trips to the Tulsa, Oklahoma area, and the Dallas,
Texas area to visit family.
Faye’s daughter Karen McKee and husband Bob
live in Owasso, Okla. They have two children, Sherry
Buck and Brian McKee. Her son Max Breshears and
wife Anna live in Stillwell, Kan. They have two sons
Roger Breshears and Gary Breshears. Her son Lindel
Breshears and wife Nancy live in Carrollton, Texas.
They have two sons Chad Breshears and Brandon
Breshears. She also has eight great-grandchildren.
The youngest Emery Faye Breshears was born
April 12, 2018, and shares her name with Faye.
In her retirement years Faye enjoyed sewing,
crocheting, needlepoint and other craft projects.
Faye and Marvin had a large garden for many
years and harvested and processed the vegeta-
bles and fruits. She cooked for family and
friends, some of her recipes such as homemade
cinnamon rolls, were always enjoyed by every-
one and have been passed along to family
members. Faye and Marvin attended the Salem
Missionary Baptist Church, Cliquot, Mo.,
where Faye was saved at the age of 14. Faye
has been crocheting baby hats for the Madi-
son’s Angels chapter of Newborns in Need for
many years and continues crocheting since
moving to Butterfield.
Faye and Marvin celebrated 70 years of
marriage on Feb. 8, 2016. This is rare for any
couple to be able to celebrate that number of
years of marriage. In July of 2016 Marvin had
his 91st birthday, but in the following few days
he unexpectedly passed away. Faye was faced
with many decisions and with the help of her
family they came to the conclusion that Butter-
field would be a good choice for her. In Sep-
tember of 2016, Faye moved to Butterfield and
has met many new friends as well as old
friends she had known for many years. Faye
celebrated her 90th birthday on Jan. 14, 2018,
with family and friends. Many people sent
cards and gifts, and called to wish her a happy
birthday or stopped by to visit. Faye always
enjoys visiting with her special family and
friends.
