Ed Clark,
Residents of the Month
Benjamin Edward Clark was born
Feb. 19, 1928, in Forest, Miss., to Mar-
tin Van Clark and Pearl Caughman. Ed
grew up with his brother Martin Van
Clark Jr. in Monroe, La. Ed attended
high school at Ouachita Parish High
School and then continued his education
at Louisiana State University where he
earned his B.S., MBA, and later a Ph.D.
in accounting.
In 1951, Ed married his sweetheart
Theodosia Jones. The same year he trav-
eled to Asia with the U.S Army Audit
Association. He was stationed in various
cities such as Tokyo and Yokohama,
Japan and served temporary duty in Oki-
nawa, Japan and Seoul, South Korea.
His wife was able to join him overseas
for part of the time. The couple enjoyed
working with missionaries to lead Bible
studies for the local community.
The couple returned to the U.S. in
1953. For the next 12 years Ed worked
for DeQuincy Insurance Agency in
Dequincy, La. In 1966, Ed accepted a
position at Southwest Baptist University
and moved to Bolivar. He served as the
Vice President of Financial Affairs and
as a professor of accounting until 1992.
Ed also served as the President of the
Bolivar Rotary Club and established the
prestigious Annual Bolivar Civic Ser-
vice Award given to an outstanding
member in the community.
Ed and Theodosia were blessed with
two sons, Randall Dale Clark and Brian
Wayne Clark. Randall currently resides
in San Diego, Calif., and Wayne in
Bolivar, MO. Ed has two grand-
children Lacy and Michael. Ed and
Theodosia were blessed with a
wonderful marriage of 60 years.
During his free time, he
frequently volunteered with CMH
Auxillary. He also enjoyed playing
golf and going fishing. He still
keeps up with his favorite sports on
TV.
Congratulations, Ed, on being
selected as resident of the month.
