Linda Vee Chaney was born Aug. 28, 1925, in Pittsburg, Mo., to Bert and Edna Chaney. Linda had four siblings, Marvin, Dee, Lavon and Connie. She attended school in Pittsburg. Her parents owned, Chaney General Store, and she worked in the store for several years. In 1940, Linda met J. C. Bigler at church, and the couple began dating. They married March 31, 1940, and moved to California, where J.C. worked for a year on a ranch. The couple moved back to Missouri and J.C. worked as a road construction supervisor. Linda was a homemaker and worked on the their farm. The couple later would move to In- dependence, Mo., where J.C. continued to work in road construction and Linda worked at a grocery store. When J.C. retired, the couple returned to their home town of Pittsburg. They later sold their farm and moved to Wheatland, where they lived for 23 years before moving to Bolivar. Linda and J.C. were blessed with two wonderful children, a daughter, Bernice and a son, Rick. Bernice lives in Polk, Mo. with husband, Jerald, and Rick, and wife Laura, live in Bolivar. Linda is blessed with five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Linda and J.C. were blessed with 69 years of marriage before J.C. passed away in 1990. Linda is a member of the Boli- var First Christian Church. She has enjoyed cooking, canning, attend- ing church activities, and was a member of the Friendship Circle Club. Linda moved to Butterfield in 2016. She is blessed with the com- pany of her special friend, Ray Fleeman, who also lives at Butter- field. She enjoys attending paddle ball, music groups, parties and sev- eral other activities at BRCC. She loves spending time with her fami- ly and friends, and she is blessed that her granddaughter, Tina Dick- erson, works at Butterfield as the Director of Nursing.
