Congratulations to Janet Hannert on being selected as resident of the month . Janet was born on Oct . 22 , 1945 , in Dunnegan , Mo ., to Rathburn “ Razz ” and Elsie Marie Baker . Janet had a twin sister , Janice ; two older sisters , Alberta and Ruth ; and a younger sister , Judy ( her only living sibling ). Judy currently resides on the family farm in Dunnegan . Janet has fond childhood memories of playing with her sisters and accompanying her dad to square dances . He was a talented square dance caller and fiddle player .
When Janet was 10 years old , her parents divorced . Janet , her sisters and their mother moved to Kansas City . When Janet ’ s mother married Walter Davis , the family moved to Salina , Kan . Janet began working fulltime as a bus girl when she was 16 years old . She then worked at Asberry Hospital in the laundry department .
When Janet was 18 , her sister , Judy , set her up on a blind date with Bob Hannert . Judy worked at the car hop Bob frequently visited . Bob and Janet were married on Feb . 21 , 1965 , in a Nazarene Church .
Bob worked as a sandblaster for a monument company . Janet continued to work at the hospital and then changed jobs a few times throughout her working career . She made pizza at Tony ’ s Pizza factory , worked at a daycare and also spent several years working as a dishwasher at the Grandma Max ’ s truck stop .
Janet and Bob were blessed with three wonderful children Althea , Robert and Steve . Althea lives in Pennsylvania ; Robert lives in Salina ; and Steve , and his wife , Brandy , also live in Salina . Janet has six grandchildren — including a set of twin granddaughters — and three great-grandchildren .
Janet and Bob enjoyed going to the movies , playing bingo , dancing and bowling together . They were on a bowling league for many years . Janet and Bob were blessed with 40 years of marriage before Bob passed away .
Janet moved to Butterfield in 2015 . She enjoys daily chair exercises , bingo , parties and several other activities at BRCC . Her kindness and joyful attitude are a blessing to all of us ! Thank you for sharing your story with us Janet !
