Wanda Lightfoot,
Resident of the Month
Congratulations to Wanda Vee Light-
foot for being selected as the December
resident of the month. Wanda was born
July 24, 1933, to Barnard and Imogene
Lipe in Pittsburg, Mo. Wanda was one of
six children; two sisters and three brothers.
The family moved several times while she
was growing up. They lived in Bolivar,
California, Kansas, and then to Elkton,
Mo.
Wanda attended Wheatland High
School, where she met the love of her life,
Billie Dee Lightfoot. The couple were mar-
ried in 1948 when Wanda was only 15
years old. Two years later they would
welcome the first of three sons. Wanda
enjoyed being a homemaker and mother.
Billie was a farmer and the couple lived
on the Pomme de Terre river.
When the boys were older, Wanda
began working for Teter’s Floral, where
she worked for 10 years. She later would
work for the school cafeteria for 7 years
and for Consumer’s supermarket for 8
years.
Wanda’s hobbies have included sewing,
ceramics, and traveling with Billie. She is a
member of the Southside Missionary Bap-
tist Church and has always enjoyed being
involved in her church activities.
Wanda and Billie were blessed with a
wonderful 66 years of marriage when he
passed away in 2014. Wanda enjoys spend-
ing time her children Gayland and wife,
Marcelene; Garland, and wife, Leasa; and
Mendal, and wife, Sylvia. She is blessed
with seven grandchildren and seven great -
grandchildren.
Wanda moved to Butterfield in
2017 and enjoys the music activities,
socials, Kid’s club, and visiting with
her many friends. She brings joy to
all around her. We are blessed she is
a part of our Butterfield family.
Thank you for sharing your story
with us Wanda!
