Lloyd Eckhoff,
Resident of the Month
Congratulations to Lloyd Eckhoff on
being selected as Butterfield Residential
Care Center’s Resident of the Month.
Richard Lloyd Eckhoff was born Jan.
24, 1929, to Christy Lloyd Eckhoff and
Albena Rose Tebbencamp-Eckhoff in
Sweet Springs, Mo. Lloyd was the eldest of
eight children, all of whom, with the exception of his youngest brother, are still living.
Lloyd attended Lowland Grade School
and eventually graduated from Knob
Noster High School. After graduating,
Lloyd worked on his father’s farm until
1949, when he took a job with Krebeil
Construction. Throughout his working
years, Lloyd was employed by various
construction companies including: Beck
and Harris Construction-Bridge Division,
Mid-American and Missouri Petroleum,
and Central Bridge Company. Lloyd was
a foreman and supervised several
employees. Over the years, he would
develop numerous construction skills
including being able to operate heavy
machinery.
In 1954, Lloyd married Rita Agnes Smith.
Lloyd met Rita while he was working on a
construction job in Bethany, Mo. In order
for the couple traveled to wherever Lloyd’s
work needed, they made their home in a
travel trailer. Eventually, Lloyd and Rita
would settle into a house in Carrollton,
Mo.
The couple lived and raised their
four children, Dickey, Bobby,
Missy and Amy, in Carrollton.
Sadly, Dickey was killed in a car
accident.
In 1986, Lloyd would re-marry
Norma Neil. The couple met on a
blind date at a dance hall. They had
a lot of fun together. In 2002, the
couple would relocate, this time
to a farm in Wheatland, Mo. They
loved living on the farm.
In 2014, Lloyd made BRCC
his home. He loves spending his
time playing bingo, telling stories
and attending ice cream socials.
Thank you so much for sharing
your story with us Lloyd! We are
blessed to have you as part of our
Butterfield family.
