The overall winner for the
second year running was
Saltaire based Rance Booth
Smith Architects. The judges
were impressed by the fact
that even though they won the
award in 2013, they continued
to ‘Raise the Bar’ even higher in
2014. This year the practice has:
•Worked closely with Shipley
College’s Centre of Excellence,
supporting learning initiatives
and work placements
•Encouraged staff to support
local community projects
including; Saltaire Festival,
Saltaire Open Gardens and the
Saltaire Community Garden
•Organised numerous fund
raising activities for their charity
partner Brain Tumour Research
and Support Yorkshire.
The awards are open to all business in Leeds and Bradford. The
main purpose of Raising the Bar is to celebrate and promote the
good work done by businesses of all different sizes across all
sectors. Entrants are judged for their contributions within the four
categories of Community, Education, Economy and Environment.
An overall winner is also chosen for their stand-out contributions
across the board. Find out who won, and why:
“We were surprised but
delighted to be awarded
‘Overall Winner’ by Raising the
Bar. This year, we’ve worked
hard to improve on the variety
of community, environment,
employment and education
activities we’ve supported.
We’ve particularly enjoyed
working with Shipley College’s
Centre of Excellence, who are
striving to develop Bradford’s
young business talent, with the
help of local employers.” Linda
Hollings, Director, Rance Booth
Smith Architects.
