Raising the Bar Awards 2014 The 2014 awards were held on 6 November at the White Cloth Gallery in Leeds. Overall winners Rance Booth Smith The overall winner for the second year running was Saltaire based Rance Booth Smith Architects. The judges were impressed by the fact that even though they won the award in 2013, they continued to ‘Raise the Bar’ even higher in 2014. This year the practice has: •Worked closely with Shipley College’s Centre of Excellence, supporting learning initiatives and work placements •Encouraged staff to support local community projects including; Saltaire Festival, Saltaire Open Gardens and the Saltaire Community Garden •Organised numerous fund raising activities for their charity partner Brain Tumour Research and Support Yorkshire. The awards are open to all business in Leeds and Bradford. The main purpose of Raising the Bar is to celebrate and promote the good work done by businesses of all different sizes across all sectors. Entrants are judged for their contributions within the four categories of Community, Education, Economy and Environment. An overall winner is also chosen for their stand-out contributions across the board. Find out who won, and why: “We were surprised but delighted to be awarded ‘Overall Winner’ by Raising the Bar. This year, we’ve worked hard to improve on the variety of community, environment, employment and education activities we’ve supported.
