After working in Antigua as a marine carpenter for 7 years Steffen Meyerer took to the breeze in search of new horizons and came sailing into Grenada in 2010. He quickly discovered the niche for someone of his trade who had the knowledge and experience earned in a full scale marine industry and established what we know today as DRIFTWOOD FINE YACHT SERVICES. Driftwood has grown in leaps and bounds from a small-scale marine carpentry shop to a much larger operation. In 2017 the scope of services Driftwood had to offer was widened when Steffen’s experience in Fine Yacht Carpentry was spliced with the shipwright skills of Judd Tinius. Between the two they have a combined total of 30-plus years experience. This brought Driftwood to the next level of extensive knowledge and experience of working on not just modern yachts, but to the classic wooden boats as well. The next logical step in growth was to establish a team specializing in composites. A team that is familiar with all aspects of modern construction materials and techniques. This team has been successfully operating for four years now and has become a cornerstone of Driftwood. Today Driftwood is composed of a reliable and dedicated team of tradesmen who, with their varied skillset, can offer a wide range of services to yacht owners and crew. The team’s cumulative technical know-how is the key element which enables them to provide their services with a comprehensive support option that is hard to beat. Services provided include all carpentry and shipwright works. From teak decking to complete interior and exterior refits. Veneering, restoration as well as warranty work. Outside of the realm of wood, Driftwood also offers GRP and composite fabrication. They can perform regular deck core replacement, blister repairs, collision repairs, fabricate custom parts in various composite materials as well as Gel coat repairs and topside painting (both spray and hand). Driftwood’s Sea Hawk certified Bottom team takes care of all the paint services from the waterline down. Encouraging both large & small yachts to visit Grenada whilst having their service needs fulfilled. www.businessgrenada.com 133
