#BWSMAGAZINE Top Tips for Dressing to Impress at Work 1. Wearing the right colours and styles can make you more ‘visible’ at work meaning more compliments, conversations, confidence, inclusivity and ultimately opportunities. 2. Wear clothes that fit you. Very baggy shirts and oversized jackets may look slouchy and un-kempt. In the same way, overly tight-fitting dresses, skirts and shirts could give your co- workers the wrong impression. 3. Pair bold-coloured shirts or blouses with neutral blazers or vice versa. Work doesn’t have to mean boring, but you don’t want to dazzle your co lleagues with a rainbow of colours which can be distracting, one impact colour and two neutrals is a good rule of thumb. 4. Quality is important, so pay attention to getting quality shirts, blouses, jackets, cardigans etc. for work, that extra investment will send the message that you are worth it! 5. Know your audience. If you have a big meeting, it’s important to wear something that suits the atmosphere you wish to create. For example, if you’re meeting with a fashion editor, what you wear is going to be different compared with if you’re meeting with an investor. 21
