#BWSMAGAZINE I’m a tad scared about using anything too patterned in my sitting room but feel the space looks a bit bland. Any advice on what’s hot in the pattern world that I could explore? CHECK IT OUT - Colefax & Fowler’s fabric upholstery delivering a big impact look. Patterns abound in 2018. Checks, stripes, dogtooth and herringbone are all evident both in the fashion and interiors worlds. They all add up to delivering a new trend but also something that’s classic. These patterns can be found in woven fabrics, textured wallcoverings, flat weave carpets and rugs. Our photo shows Colefax & Fowler check patterned fabric upholstered chairs. Great for creating a pared back look – all very tailored looking. If you want to deliver a softer look, team with some gentle pastel shades when selecting your paint tones. We’ve bought a conversion and the compromise to get more space was giving up a garden. We’re struggling with that decision but have a room that has lots of natural light and at least looks out onto open garden space – it’s just not ours and there’s no direct access. Any suggestions for giving the room more of an al fresco feel? Why don’t you create an indoor garden space? Urban dwellers can certainly create their own garden inspired room to compensate for that lack of outdoor space. Elitis or Arte bamboo inspired wallcoverings can provide the backdrop.Throw in lots of greenery – real or some faux plants. There are some great imitations on the market and of course these are maintenance free! Go for layered lighting – especially to achieve the directional lighting of plants. Opt for some wicker furniture – but cover in a luxe fabric such as velvet. Sit back and enjoy your garden room! 15
