Although small compared to some
golf supply stores, Edmond Golf is the
“little shop that could,” starting out small
and changing locations twice during its
near-30 years in operation.
“We started out on Main Street, and
then we moved in 1997 to across the
street from where we are now,” Steve said.
“We eventually outgrew that place, so we
moved to our current location at 301 N.
Broadway, where we’ve been ever since.
We love the downtown area.”
Although Edmond Golf does not have
a website or Facebook page, McCollom
said downtown foot traffic and word of
mouth about their business has more
than kept them busy.
“We’re both so glad to be here —
this is a business, but honestly, we just
love to help people, and since we’re as
knowledgeable as we are about golf, our
store helps us to do just that,” he said. “A
lot of times, if we don’t have the starter
sets, we’ll recommend (to customers)
trying it out and then seeing if they like it
or not — if they really want to play (golf),
before coming back to us to ask about
golfing supplies.
“Like a lot of sports, golf is one of
those things that people may think they
want to play, invest in the equipment
they need and then find out, it’s not
for them. We don’t want people to do
that. We would rather not sell someone
golfing equipment until they know
they’re going to be into it. For us, it’s
not as much about the sales as it is about
helping people find what’s right for
them.”
Edmond Golf is open from 9 a.m. to
6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m.
to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information,
