C
hris Anderson and his business partner Casey Massegee
with the Grant Group, had been successful with several
Edmond ventures.
So when the opportunity arose to purchase a former
lumberyard building at 23 West 1st Street, they jumped at it.
The result is the Edmond Railyard, which includes six
restaurants, a bar serving wine, craft cocktails, craft beer, as well
as a cigar room upstairs, and two office spaces that house an oil
and gas company, and a human resources firm.
“We own a handful of buildings in downtown Edmond, so
when we heard that this building was available, we knew we
wanted to own it. It is a 20,000-square foot building in downtown
Edmond and those are hard to come by,” Anderson said.
Anderson said the building design needed some work.
“Our initial plan was to make it office warehouse space,” he
said. “We soon realized there was more potential here.”
Anderson said they traveled to Atlanta, Ga., to look at several
projects that had taken large industrial buildings and turned
them into a restaurant arena.
“We created this pedestrian walkthrough where essentially all
these restaurants have frontage with the same visibility, and they
all benefit from each other,” he said. “It came out exactly as we
had envisioned it.”
