Affiliate Award at the

of Realtors banquet.
Shari Benton, pictured with

“Affiliate of the Year” by
members of the Edmond
Board of Realtors. Benton
accepted the award at the
recent EBR banquet at the
Hilton Garden Inn.
Among the realtors of distinction was
incoming Board president Jilian Gardner, who
earned the title of Realtor of the Year.
“We always like to make the Realtor of the
Year award a big surprise, so she had no idea,”
Carter said. “Jilian is with ER A Court yard
(Real Estate), and she also was installed as
incoming president, but her selection of
Realtor of the Year was in recognition of
her giving so much of her time and effort
to our association. She does a tremendous
job, representing the Edmond real estate
communit y, the board, and through her
volunteer work. She is a great example of the
qualit y professionals we have working in the
industry here in Edmond. She’s phenomenal.
“We also gave away the Most Cooperative
Realtor of the Year – this is an honor which is
selected by other realtors (in the association),
and when they vote, they can’t vote for anyone
within their own office. It has to be someone
they’ve done business with, with whom
they’ve got a good working relationship,” she
continued. “This award was given to George
Carlton with Churchill-Brown & Associates.”
Other distinctions were given to Shari
Benton and Barbara Brown Sander, who
were awarded Affiliate of the Year and the
Teri Wagnon Outstanding Affiliate Award,
respectively.
“Affiliate of the Year honoree was Shari
Benton with First American Title Insurance
Company — those awards are given to realtors
who go above and beyond in their working
with our vendors, and other professionals
whose work kind of ‘touches’ real estate,”
she said. “Shari has served on several
committees in the past, she supports us
with sponsorships, she’s very involved and
is willing to step up whenever asked. She’s a
great asset to the real estate communit y here.
“Last year, we created the Teri Wagnon
Outstanding Affiliate Award, in honor of one
of our affiliates who passed away, and who
had made a huge impact in our industry,”
Carter said. “This is something we don’t plan
on awarding every year, but this year, it was
given to Barbara Sander who has been with
Old Republic Home Warrant y for, I think,
almost 20 years. She’s another professional
who always goes above and beyond for our
industry, and we wanted to recognize her,
especially since it was her last year with her
company as she retired.”
Carter said the banquet, with around 300
realtors and associates in attendance, was
a “great success,” exemplifying the caliber
of real estate professionals working in and
around the Edmond area.
