Kayla Itsines
Kayla Itsines is a 24-year-old personal trainer from Adelaide, Australia. Kayla started
her journey in 2008 after qualifying as a personal trainer and working at a women’s
only gym (Itsines, 2015). After training clients, Kayla started noticing that her clients
were all asking for the same results from their personal training sessions (Itsines, 2015).
After leaving her job as a personal trainer at the gym, she started training and helping
more women to achieve their bikini body, and these women were noticing change in
just 12 weeks and under (Itsines, 2015). Kayla started getting bigger and more in demand, so she decided to make an online presence by setting up an Instagram and Facebook account, which would allow her to help women all around the world by selling
her guides as PDF’s. The guides consist of 3 resistance-training circuits; each day there
is two 7-minute circuits , which you complete twice which take 28 minutes to complete
overall. The guides are now available in 5 different languages.
Kayla Itsines and her Bikini Body guides have formed communities all over the world
which have formed hash tags, such as: #kaylasarmy, #BBGcommunity, #BBGmums and
all participating countries have their own hash tag. On Kayla’s website there is a community section where it has links to all different Facebook groups for all different towns,
cities and countries.
Kayla now has 4.8 million followers on Instagram, 5.5 million likes on Facebook and
300,000 followers on Twitter.
From the success of the guides, Kayla launched her app, ‘Sweat with Kayla’ which
would have BBG 1, BBG 2 and BBG 3, a private camera roll to take progress pictures,
motivation messages (this is where you can leave a motivational message for the next
person that does the workout next to push them to complete their workout) There is
also a meal plan for each day along with a weekly food-shopping list to get the user
prepared for the week.
