The United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce has a long, proud history of
supporting our local military installations and the active duty military person-
nel, veterans and their families that call our community “home”. In 2017,
we continued the tradition by participating in events like the Wings Over
South Texas Air Show featuring the Blue Angels and our own Salute
to the Military Luncheon where we awarded our first Military Legacy
Scholarship. We stayed connected with our base leadership who
regularly attend the South Texas Military Facilities Task Force
meetings and were able to successfully advocate at the State
Capitol for legislation protecting Texas military installations
from wind farm encroachment (SB 277). We also made suc-
cessful visits to the Pentagon, U.S. Congress, and Hunts-
ville, AL, to remind everyone what critical national security
assets reside in South Texas.
