The United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce has a long, proud history of supporting our local military installations and the active duty military person- nel, veterans and their families that call our community “home”. In 2017, we continued the tradition by participating in events like the Wings Over South Texas Air Show featuring the Blue Angels and our own Salute to the Military Luncheon where we awarded our first Military Legacy Scholarship. We stayed connected with our base leadership who regularly attend the South Texas Military Facilities Task Force meetings and were able to successfully advocate at the State Capitol for legislation protecting Texas military installations from wind farm encroachment (SB 277). We also made suc- cessful visits to the Pentagon, U.S. Congress, and Hunts- ville, AL, to remind everyone what critical national security assets reside in South Texas. • Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) and Naval Air Station Corpus Chris- ti (NASCC) represent 5% of all em- ployment in Corpus Christi. • CCAD contributes $2.89 billion per year to the Texas State economy. • NASCC contributes $2.8 billion per year to the Texas State economy. Combined, these two installations contribute 7.5% $5.7 OF OUR LOCAL ECONOMY & BILLION PER YEAR TO THE STATE ECONOMY JULY SUNDAY 1 8 MONDAY 2 9 TUESDAY 3 10 South Texas Military Facilities Task Force Quarterly Meeting 15 22 29 16 23 30 WEDNESDAY 4 THURSDAY 5 6 Independence Day Government Affairs Committee Chamber Closed Winging 11 12 SATURDAY FRIDAY 13 7 14 Infrastructure Committee Finance Committee Chamber 101 Small, Diverse and Emerging Business Council 17 18 19 20 Buenos Dias Board of Directors Meeting Chamber Champions Meeting Foundation Trustees 24 25 26 27 Business off the Clock Education and Workforce Committee Winging Executive Committee 21 28 31 MAKE PLANS TO ATTEND SALUTE TO THE MILITARY!
