Friel Consulting mum and grandmother who both do a great deal of fundraising for their various causes. Right now I am in the process of setting up a foundation to assist young people in St.Lucia who struggle with finding money to pay for school books, tuition and uniforms. It is my hope that through fundraising and awareness events, I can raise enough money each year to help at least one child with all his/ her annual education costs. Friel Consulting offer bespoke business development and marketing consultancy services. We understand that every company works to a different business plan - but implementation can in some cases be extremely difficult due to many variables. This is where we can provide much needed support. What is it like growing up as a teenager very much in the public eye? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Our Services: We don't really have paparazzi here in St.Lucia and the media is not particularly interested in the lives of the children of politicians so I don't really feel as though I am in the public eye. Although I help at many fundraising, political and charitable events, my mum is very protective of my brother and I and she generally keeps us away from political rallies and events like these. Of course as St.Lucia is a small island, there are times that I do get recognised as "the PM's daughter" but most people are generally pretty nice about it or have something good to say to me to pass on to my dad. I have had a few people say some not so nice things, but those situations are rare and my parents always remind me that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. • • • • • What would your message be to other teenage girls? My message to other teenage girls is to follow your passion in all that you do. Although I’m sure they’ve heard it before, it is important that once you have found something that you feel is your calling in life, it should not be ignored. My parents always tell me that once you are passionate about what you are doing, you will always be successful. Many young people feel pressured to go into careers simply because of the pay. I think this is very short-sighted and that life is way too short to do anything for a long time which does not fulfil you. My advice is to do what makes you happy. 36 Communication is obviously the most critical thing Business Development Management Supply Chain Engagement Training and Recruitment Advisory Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) planning and implementation Event Planning and Management Let’s Talk Tel: 0044 (0) 7807 873 016 Email: [email protected] Web: www.frielconsulting.co.uk
