Once the business is successful, how can I remove myself? By not being afraid of hiring great people. This is a challenge I see with so many entrepreneurs and business owners. They think that ‘only they can do the job or the task in a good and proper way’. The key to creating wealth is leverage. And now that the business is successful it is time to realise that the more, great people you hire and have around you and, on your team, the more leverage you will have. However, hire strategically. Because what you don’t want to do is to become a ‘back end’ heavy organisation. On the flip side you don’t want to be hiring only ‘offensive players’ on your team. Because then a lot of sales will be made but nobody to deliver the actual service. I believe a healthy balance of hiring is what’s needed. And the more you delegate your tasks the easier it will be to remove yourself. Always remember growth can kill a business. Removing yourself too early can kill a business. On the other hand, not removing yourself from the business will make you feel like a slave and imprisoned. There are critical things to understand and more importantly how to do them. This is exactly what I teach in my business trainings and coaching programs. What is the best way to optimise work/life balance? Focus on what you’re really great at. Putting your effort and energies behind what your strengths are. That way you can do what you’re naturally good at, hire other people to do the jobs you hate doing and that cause you pain doing them. This way you will be able to optimise your strengths, avoid your weaknesses and by doing so giving you more inner peace. I see so many people trying to push a boulder up the hill, struggling with tasks that they simple dislike doing. And this mental strain causes them to upset a work/ life balance. To summarise, focus on your strengths and get someone else to deal with your weaknesses, that way everything will get managed and you will sleep well at night. 64 65
