Motivation is often a real deal breaker when it
comes to making the effort to exercise, which
is why a change in attitude towards it is so vital.
Motivation isn’t something that just happens to
you, it is something you have to create. While
exercise may be about movement, until your
make up your mind to include exercise in your
life, you won’t move anywhere, at least not for
very long.
So mentally accept the fact that you have to
exercise. Once you have made peace with that
fact, it should be a little easier to just get on with
and if you find the type of exercise which suits
you, it is no longer a chore, but something to look
forward to.
In the past few decades our lifestyles have
changed dramatically. We have more time-saving
and in many cases exercise saving machines
– we no longer walk to school or work, our
work is less physical thanks to automation and
computers. So it is necessary to acknowledge our
responsibility towards ensuring we get enough
physical exercise and the need to have a balance
in how we live our lives.
We need exercise to mean something to us. It
could be to lose weight, to run a marathon, it
could be to help manage pain, to reduce stress,
stay flexible or keep your energy levels up or it
could be the only time you get to yourself. You
have the freedom to choose the activity which
appeals to you. If you can find your own value
and meaning and the form of exercise which
you enjoy, you will find your motivation. Then
exercising more won’t be another one of those
New Year’s resolutions which has been forgotten
by the time February arrives, it will be a lifestyle
choice to a healthier, happier you.
Mentally
accept the fact
that you have
to exercise
