If you have a goal to be healthier, a vegan diet is for you. A vegan diet is
usually based around whole foods and contain less unhealthy fats, fewer
calories and much more vitamins and minerals that will make you feel
better, look better and become a healthier version of yourself.
Many people will naturally lose weight when switching to a vegan diet. This
can be the result of many different factors. You eat healthier, less caloric
dense food, more fiber, less saturated fat and sugar. Be aware that you
generally must consume bigger volumes of food if eat a healthier vegan
diet as the food you choose often have less calories. Eat more, be healthier
and at the same time also maintain or lose weight? Doesn’t sound too bad
to me.
One thing that you hear most vegans say that they have experienced after
switching their diet is that they are feeling lighter and more energetic. I
like to visually explain this to people by telling them to picture themselves
holding a vibrant green apple in one hand, and a piece of meat in the
other hand – what looks more energetic and alive? What will make you feel
more energetic? If you eat more colorful and vibrant food that definitely
affects how you feel.
A vegan diet is often considered to be the healthiest one there is, and
with good reason. It is shown through research to help reduce the risk of
heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes and
potentially also some types of cancer. It is however possible to have an
unhealthy vegan diet to. My recommendation will be to base your diet
around fruit, vegetables, wholegrains, legumes, nuts and seeds. Avoid
highly processed foods, products high in sugar, saturated fat and added
chemicals.
If you are an animal lover or just in general care about other living beings,
the best way to live accordingly to that is definitive being vegan. You will
avoid eating animals, buying items containing animal products or support
animal cruelty. The best way to go about this will be to read ingredients
lists, look for trademarks like “Vegan”, “Cruelty Free”, “Not tested on Animals”
etc., educate yourself and to learn from other vegans. Vegans generally
love to share their knowledge and passion.
