Business Improvement Success with Fife College

Fife College’ s Business Improvement Programme provides organisations with the tools and strategies needed to identify inefficiencies, streamline processes and boost overall productivity. The programme has been designed to address key operational challenges and drive measurable improvements in performance.
Our latest cohort successfully completed the programme delivered by Fife College at the Carnegie Conference Centre, Dunfermline. Participants attended the one-day, in-person workshop held monthly over five months and, supported by their expert tutor, completed a work-based project focused on business improvement.
This enabled them to identify and address key areas within their organisations, leading to significant enhancements in efficiency and productivity. The programme concluded with participants presenting their projects, showcasing their hard work and innovative solutions aimed at driving business improvement. Their efforts were recognised with the awarding of Lean Six Sigma Green Belt qualifications, a testament to their commitment and achievement. Fife College has welcomed many participants from a diverse range of businesses, reflecting the widespread relevance and applicability of Lean Six Sigma methods. Organisations who have taken part to date include SM Bayne & Co, 2Agriculture Ltd, St Andrews Botanic Garden, CR Smith, YMCA, Oliver & Robb Architects, Scott Group, and Occutrace. Each participant brought their own unique challenges and perspectives, further improving the learning experience for all involved.
The success stories shared during the presentations session highlighted the benefits of applying Lean Six Sigma principles. From streamlining processes to reducing waste and improving customer satisfaction, the projects demonstrated the significant impact that targeted business improvement initiatives can have.

The Lean Improvement Programme has been an excellent learning experience for our participants and very beneficial for the company. Our team did a fantastic job. As well as their project delivering cost savings of around £ 113,000, a very important benefit for the company is the way they engaged with colleagues and have promoted a dynamic culture of continuous improvement across the production team.”
- Scott Grant, Managing Director Manufacturing at Scott Group
