T oday , hunger is bringing suffering to over 795 million people across the globe . Those affected currently do not have access to enough food to live sustainably . Although a majority of this population are based in the world ’ s most vulnerable regions , this does not contain the issue within borders as food security issues are also residing in some of the most developed nations . The UK is reportedly one of the most food insecure nations in the European Union , and it is by no means an economically undeveloped nation .
The threat of an agricultural crisis is very much a reality across the globe . Crippling costs , poor weather conditions and disease outbreaks have hit landscapes , farmers and businesses hard over the years and the potential impacts can be tenfold . The UK for example , has suffered from record high temperatures , reported outbreaks of foot and mouth disease and is also in the midst of an uncertain trading future as Brexit looms .
