• Burnsville was originally spelled Byrnesville and is attributed to an early Irish settler and land owner , William Byrne . His surname was recorded as “ Burns ” and never corrected .
• Until 1956 , Burnsville District 15 had a one-room schoolhouse located where the Burnsville High School athletic fields are today .
• Burnsville became an incorporated village in 1964 .
