OAK VALLEY TRAIL PLANNED TRAIL SYSTEM The new Oak Valley Trail is the first pedestrian trail leg in the city ’ s planned trail system . The concrete trail ’ s length is 2.4 miles tip to tip and is 10 feet in width and has two trail heads with one at the corner of Rigney Way and Scott Street in Burleson ’ s Old Town District , and the other located at the Oak Valley Park North .
The trail is the result of a grant from the Department of Transportation and was created to provide east-west pedestrian access across Burleson and under the Interstate 35W Freeway .
The trail also crosses a retained nature habitat in which nature hikes are provided by the Rio Brazos Master Naturalists . For information , contact Ryan Nolting at 817-426-9291 . VETERANS MEMORIAL PLAZA 298 E . RENFRO ST .
The city-owned Veterans Memorial Plaza includes a fountain surrounded by bricks engraved with the names of local service members ; the bronze eagle and Purple Heart memorial that were unveiled in 2009 ; and the names of veterans from World War I , World War II , Korea and Vietnam from the Johnson County Veterans Monument that were added in 2010 .
A POW monument was added in 2011 . Additions to the plaza in 2018 include a bronze Soldier ’ s Cross and a bronze plaque commemorating all branches in all foreign wars .
