added some excitement to the game. Pacer: I can’ t tell you how many people have been introduced to the game of darts in exactly the same way. At least half of the darters I talk to got started by subbing for a friend or family member. I have to admit that I was shocked to hear that electronic boards had just come to your area, but tell us about your first BullShooter. Adam: Tom, I had been playing soft-tip since last September, and I had a chance to play for Team Canada. I felt like I might as well find out what this big tournament in Chicago was all about. I have to admit, it was everything I had heard about and more. Pacer: Adam, you had yourself one of those weekends that darters dream about. Your team won the Monsters of The Midway, 4-man team event on Thursday( with Rob Talbert, Mark Miller and Adam Burton), won 1st in Men’ s Cricket Doubles( with Mark), 2nd in 501 Singles, 2nd in 501 Doubles with David Switzer, 3rd in Top Gun Singles, and you topped it all off by competing for Team Canada in the International Challenge! You not only had quite a weekend, you were in the finals of four events. That means you literally threw thousands of darts. Adam: It was an amazing tournament. The biggest thing to me is what an adrenalin rush it was. I was playing in the open events and throwing 10 dart outs‘ 01 games and the people I was playing were sitting on an out. I had to hit those darts to win. I remember shooting like a 6.8 in a Cricket game and the guy I beat was shooting over a 7. I only won because I was going first. Pacer: It’ s been a long time, but I can remember when matches like that could really get your blood flowing( both laughing). Adam: I have to admit, going home with some money in my pocket added to the tournament’ s enjoyment! In fact, because of the exchange rate, I actually gained a few thousand dollars when going back to Canada. Pacer: Willie Walker, whom I interviewed last month, and I talked about the champioship match between the U. S. and Canada. I know you must have a different view of that match. Adam: They had some trouble doubling in, and we took advantage of it. We won the first two games and came oh so close to making it a three game sweep. Then in the last game we had a chance to freeze and just didn’ t get the job done. It was a tough bone to chew. Pacer: Like I told Willie, it was one of the most exciting matches I have ever witnessed. That was a true sporting event. Eight world class players slugging it out. Both teams should be proud of the show they put on. Adam: It was a tough loss, but like I said earlier, it was really one big adrenalin rush! Tom, I would also like to say that I have been around some great players like Jeff Smith, John Part and Darin Young. When players like that talk about the game, I listen. They didn’ t get where they are without earning it. I have to say the biggest thing for me is the support group I have at home, Amanda and the kids. Their love and support means the world to me. Also, I would say if someone is thinking about introducing electronic boards to a new area, I can only say that they really took off here in New Brunswick.
Pacer: Adam genuinely appreciates the opportunites the game of darts has provided him. He is very proud of the fact that Cosmos Fit Flight is currently designing his signature darts. He said,“ It really is humbling to think that players will be using my personal darts.” What impresses me is that once again a sponsor has chosen not ony a great player, but someone who is truly an ambassador for the game of darts!
