THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD On Epiphany there is an ancient custom of announcing the dates of moveable feasts for the coming year . This proclamation has been used in connection with the blessing and distribution of calendars .
THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF EASTER AND THE MOVEABLE FEASTS Know , dear brothers and sisters , that , as we have rejoiced at the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ , so by leave Of God ’ s mercy we announce to you also the joy of his Resurrection , who is our Savior . On the 1 st day of March will fall Ash Wednesday , and the beginning of the fast of the most sacred Lenten season . On the 16 th day of April you will celebrate with joy Easter Day , the Paschal feast of our Lord Jesus Christ . On the 28 th day of May will be the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ . On the 4 th day of June , the feast of Pentecost . On the 18 th day of June , the feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ . On the 3 rd day of December , the First Sunday of the Advent of our Lord Jesus Christ , to whom is honor and glory for ever and ever . Amen .
2017 Church Calendars :
The Church Calendars for 2017 will be distributed as part of the Eucharistic Liturgies of the Epiphany of the Lord , January 8 th . We extend special thanks to the family of the late Lans Madere , the Rodriguez Family and the Kevin & Irene Stierwald family who are generously sponsoring this year ’ s calendars .
SPORTS BANQUET
We would like to recognize all Fall Sports athletes with a Mass in their honor and a luncheon to follow . We invite all SPN Fall sports ( swimming , cross country , girl ’ s and boy ’ s flag football , volleyball , soccer ) athletes and their families “ fans ”, to attend 11:00 Mass on Sunday , January 15th . Fr . Harry will bless our athletes and then join us for lunch in the PC where the athletes will be recognized and receive their team certificates . Please RSVP by January 9th to Mrs . We ’ re Going on Retreat ! From January 20-21 , SPY will be going on a retreat in Fountainebleau State Park . We ’ ll be joining the St . THE PROPHETS : Messengers of God ’ s Mercy Beginning in January , A Ten-Session Series on the Prophets .
Session Titles : 1 . Introduction to The Prophets ; 2 . Hosea : Living God ’ s Love Story ; 3 . Jonah : God ’ s Reluctant Messenger ; 4 . Isaiah Part 1 : Prophet of Woe ; 5 . Isaiah Part 2 : Prophet of Consolation ; 6 . Jeremiah : The Broken-Hearted Prophet ; 7 . Ezekiel : God ’ s Watchman on the Wall ; 8 . Daniel : Faithful to the End ; 9 . Haggai and Malachi : Messengers of Hope ; 10 . New Testament and Modern Prophets : Messengers of the New Covenant .
Participants will be provided with a Study Set . It contains engaging study questions ( with session summaries , home reading assignments , charts , and diagrams ), and Talk Notes , responses to the questions .
To help cover expenses there is a thirty dollar ($ 30.00 ) charge per participant . Participants agree to attend a General Introductory Meeting and ten sessions , in small groups of about 6-8 persons , over a 10-week period . Sessions will last about an hour and three quarters , with each session having a Facilitator .

Fill out the Registration Form and return it , with payment , by Sunday , January 8 th .
Groups meet weekly for 10 weeks , beginning week of January 15 th and ending week of March 26 th .
We will skip the week of February 26 th , the week of Mardi Gras and Ash Wednesday .
