However, Royal Mail has stipulated that any mail needs to be prepared and ready for collection by 11am. Some years we have taken the decision not to request a collection and/or not to send any mail out until after the Bank Holidays. Could all teams who send their external mail through the Central Post Room let us know if you will have a requirement to send any mail out on Christmas Eve and New Year‟s Eve. Please note that any mail sent out on Christmas Eve will not be processed through Royal Mail‟s Mail Centre until Friday 27 December 2013, and any mail sent out on New Year‟s Eve will not be processed until Thursday 2 January 2014. Current thinking is not to ask for a collection on either day and not to frank and despatch any mail on those two days as it probably wouldn‟t get any further than being delivered to the Mail Centre. If you will be sending mail out on those two days, please notify the Central Post Room no later than Monday 9 December 2013 so that we can make the necessary arrangements before Royal Mail‟s deadline. Additional Seasonal Information from the Central Post Room The Central Post Room are happy to forward your Christmas Cards on through the internal postal system to colleagues as long as you clearly address them with the individual‟s name, team and specific location. Cards received with just a name and/or building name, (e.g. Lisa, Civic Centre or David, Social Care) cannot be forwarded on and these will be disposed of. It will not be possible to return them to sender. Christmas cards will only be sorted and distributed after all other postal duties have been completed. If you put cards in to the external postal system, please ensure that you have applied the correct postage stamp under Pricing in Proportion. The Central Post Room will not frank any item of personal mail and this will be “Returned to Sender, where possible.
