More than 96 percent of Hoyer ’ s trucks in Germany already have low emission Euro 6 engines solutions such as track & trace , vendor management inventory , ‘ geofencing ’, smart tank and supply chain solutions . For example , smart tank sensors report temperature deviations and track & trace provides information on journey time deviations . Geofencing proactively tells customers expected loading and unloading times and electronic data interchange ( EDI ) ensures smooth , fully automated logistics for supplying service stations . Electronic data handling is also used for delivery notes , certificates and invoicing . In-house expertise is effectively used to further develop digital solutions so that customers around the world are best prepared for the future . Hoyer also actively supports cross-company initiatives such as KV 4.0 , which aims at the digitalisation of intermodal supply chains and is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure as part of the mFUND ( modernisation funding ) funding initiative . In its latest annual figures , Hoyer posted earnings before taxes ( EBT ) of € 40.6 million , the second-highest in the company ’ s history ( 2016 : € 40.4 million ). China on-site logistics
At the start of this year , Hoyer ’ s business line supply chain solutions ( SCS ) took on a further range of services for Covestro at the chemical company ’ s site in Shanghai , China . In addition to the existing operations in the field of MDI , SCS is now also responsible for the logistics activities of Covestro ’ s coatings adhesives specialities ( CAS ). Some 24 employees started logistics operations in Shanghai under the management of Jeffrey Xu , operations manager SCS at Hoyer . The range of services includes heating tank containers before they are unloaded , unloading raw materials and empty drums , loading palletised finished goods , and loading containers with finished products . Other services cover IBC filling as well as filling various types of drums , storing and preparing raw materials for the laboratory and production and handling waste for collection . The local management provides personnel dependent on production requirements and on the basis of a five day week with eight hour working days through to a 24 / 7 service . “ Due to our experience with Covestro and the handling of many different products , we were able to start up the service quickly and reliably ,” commented Michelle Ding , project manager SCS Asia / Pacific at Hoyer . “ The existing MDI logistics division is our advantage and makes it possible for us to react to short term peaks in the filling of finished goods and to deploy appropriately trained personnel in both areas .” SCS has been working for Covestro in Shanghai since June 2016 . The expansion of activities is based on a shared understanding of quality and safety as well as good co-operation over recent years . “ We are content with our decision . Hoyer proved to be a reliable partner for us , which is why we decided to intensify our working relation with them ,” said Wei Zhang , plant manager for PIC / PUD products at Covestro , resuming the first few months of the new collaboration .

The emissions reducing restricted driving zones some cities have introduced for diesel vehicles of certain emissions classes have caused sustained discussion in the media , in political circles , and across society . These restricted driving zones have been introduced in certain places in response to the EU ’ s desire to reduce vehicle emissions that exceed safe levels in major conurbations . such as Berlin , London , Paris , Rome and Madrid . The driving ban imposed affects all vehicles powered by diesel engines up to and including emissions class Euro 5 . Hoyer says it will avoid any restrictions as 84 percent of the trucks operated by the company will be powered by emissions class Euro 6 engines by the end of 2018 . More than 96 percent of the firm ’ s trucks in Germany already have low emission Euro 6 engines . “ We have been working on converting our entire fleet to vehicles powered by Euro 6 engines for quite a
