producer Tetra Chemicals have strengthened their cooperation. Talke has now also taken on the transport of
calcium chloride from Ham, Belgium, to Germany, Austria
and Hungary.
With this latest expansion, Talke is now also responsible for part
of the supply chain of the Tessenderlo Group’s production location
in Ham. Prod uct will be transported by road as well as combined
road and rail movements.
The German logistics group and its Spanish joint venture GlobalTalke have already worked together with Tetra Chemicals Europe,
headquartered in Helsingborg, Sweden, for several years. From a
production site in Frankfurt, each year Talke transports around
11,000 tonnes of calcium chloride to destinations in Germany,
Belgium and France.
At the Spanish port of Tarragona, Global-Talke is now responsible
for complete shiploads of calcium chloride, in total some 15,000
tonnes a year, transporting product from its logistics location there
to customers throughout Spain.
Tessenderlo Group and Tetra joined together in a strategic
partnership in 2014 in order to concentrate their capacities in
producing and marketing calcium chloride. Tessenderlo had
constructed a new production plant at its location in Ham for this
purpose, with Tatra handling the marketing.
“The aim of the strategic cooperation with the Tessenderlo Group
is to strengthen the international brand leadership of our
companies in the production and marketing of calcium chloride
and potassium sulphate,” explained Anders Jensberg, director of
logistics & procurement at Tetra Chemicals Europe. “It pleases me
all the more that with Talke we have a proven specialist for
transport on board that can support us in reliably honouring our
delivery promises right from the very first load.”
Taqa contract
for Conserve
O
ffshore container and tank rental firm, Conserve
Oilfield Services has secured a new three year
contract with Abu Dhabi energy firm Taqa.
The Aberdeen, Scotland-based company has been awarded
the contract to supply chemical transport tanks and
associated services to support Taqa’s operations in the North
Sea.
Conserve expanded its fleet of tanks last year, which are
designed, manufactured and certified to DNV 2.7-1, EN
12079 and IMDG T7 / T11 ensuring all units comply with
strict offshore safety regulations and adhere to internationally
recognised standards.
Chris MacPhee, Conserve managing director, said: “We’re
delighted to secure this contract with Taqa for the North Sea.
We’ve worked with the company over the past four years to
provide flexible solutions and competitive costs, along with a
commitment to investment, safety and customer service.”
The firm recently completed an upgrade and further
development to its hydrostatic pressure testing facilities
located at its Aberdeen headquarters in East Tullos. The
improvements include an expansion to, and installation of, a
new chemical tank air and hydrostatic testing system. This
has led to an increase in efficiency with significantly larger
volumes of tanks being tested at any one time.
“This is resulting in a quicker turnaround for clients and also
a major reduction in water use which reinforces our
commitment to the environment,” added MacPhee.
