Full time HVAC manager and part time tattooist Brian Zeffer of Las Vegas, NV grew up around hot rods. It started with him riding around in a milk crate in his dad’s car and continued when he was older as he got involved in the mini truck scene. After moving to sin city on a whim, Brian parted ways with his mini truck and bought his first classic car - a 1962 Ford Ranch Wagon. From then on Brian has owned several classics, his current ones being a ‘69 Cadillac and this truck: a 1950 Chevy 3100. The story of this truck begins about three years ago when Brian bought the truck as a running project. And a barely running project at that. The truck had some sketchy construction at the time including a improperly installed engine. Despite several safety concerns, Brian drove the truck home and has been working on it ever since. The exterior of the truck is currently in it’s fourth pain configuration - This one lasting an amazing year and a half. The custom mixed green and matte black finish includes a little pearl added for just the right pop. Red stripping is used to the give the colors separation and compliments the green and black well. Aside from the shaved door handles, the body of this beast is all stock. The same however cannot be said for the bed of the truck with features a custom bamboo flooring and the truck’s gas tank. 8 BUILT NOT BOUGHT MAGAZINE | Issue 7 - June 2013 Proudly displayed in the rear window is Brian’s Unlucky Ones CC plaque. The interior is basic hot rod. No stereo, no air and no unnecessary BS. The seat is about the only thing in the cab with any type of fabric on it. There is no headliner, no door panels and not even any side glass. The steering wheel and shifter have a bamboo look to them, with a Tiki topping off the shifter. Dolphin gauges and Frankie giving the finger finish off the design. The guts of the truck feature a small block Chevy II that was rebuilt along with a Turbo 350 transmission. Rams horn manifolds dump into glass packs that then exit the vehicle ahead of the rear tires. Disk brakes and Goodrich tires on Cragars finish up the rolling stock. Knowing that this issue was going to feature coverage of the Tiki themed Kustom Kulture Festival I have been holding off on running this truck for several months. I am glad the wait is finally over however as this truck is too nice to keep under wraps. I spoke to Brian about the possibility of bringing it up at some point to Built not Bought world headquarters and he said ”if you guys ever want to use it... I cou
