Building Science Ltd are internationally
certified, consulting water damage
technicians and building inspectors.
The company is owned and directed by
Michael Winton, an IICRC Certified Water
Damage Technician and building
inspector.
Michael has over 28 years of experience
in the insurance industry, and since 2009
has been out in the “field”, as a
remediation technician, and assessor
Building Science has handled large
claim losses for all NZ insurance
companies, and worked
for DHB’s, architects, real
estate agencies,
embassies, building
companies & law firms
performing forensic
building inspections.
Building Science created and
developed in 2016, a CodeMarked
system for assessing, remediating and
monitoring roughcast buildings, which
was approved by MBIE as an approved
solution under the 2004 Building Act.
The 2016 CodeMarked “Liquid Cladding
System” was the first alternative to a
reclad that was an approved under the
2004 Building Code in New Zealand
Building Science Ltd has also created the
first rot dog team in the southern
hemisphere, and developed the first wifi
in wall moisture sensor system, that is

used to monitor the performance of
building cavities in real time.
Building Science Ltd, provides verifiable
data to parties undertaking court action in
leaky home claims, and has run seminars
from Christchurch to Auckland for home
owners, industry professionals and
council officials on the subject “How to
protect your plaster home from
becoming a disaster home”
This talk has been hosted by the ANZ
Bank on three occasions in conjunction
with Harcourts, and by The
Professionals Real Estate Agents on two
occasions, Foxplan Financial
Planners, The Wellington
Property Investors
Association,have also held public
evenings for their clients and
members to listen to the
presentation, and it has been the
keynote presentation in 2017 for The
Auckland Property Developers
Association.
The talk has been attended by reclad
architects, reclad builders, and the
presidents of various national testing
bodies, as well as various journalists,
which resulted in a front page article in
2017, in Wellington.
Building Science Ltd has also provided 5
to 10 year performance guaranties on
roughcast / plaster homes since 2016.
