Builders Club

Corner

Congratulations to Builders Club member, Bob Neil, on retiring from Allstate after many years of devoted employment! Bob worked with us intermittently throughout his time at Allstate, but since his last day in November, he has been on the site regularly "giving his all" to the mission of Habitat. From working on the construction site to donating items to the ReStore and even the Administrative offices, Bob defines the term "Super Supporter" when it comes to Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley.

Bob's Story:

One day, while working in the construction shop at Habitat Central, Bob needed to get some supplies from the ReStore to complete a project he was working on. As he shuffled through the boxes of hardware, he felt a sense of familiarity that inspired him to take a closer look at some washers in one box in particular. The shape, the texture, the markings...all of it reminded him of someone very special he had lost recently. Then, as he looked closer at the rest of the items in the box, he realized that the reason everything seemed so familiar was because the box he was searching through was one that he had donated not long ago. It was a box of hardware from his recently decesased father's estate. Bob found what he needed for the project that day, and it came with a little something extra to fill up his heart.

There are stories everywhere you look at Habitat.

What's yours?
