Home-Buyer Spotlight
Evelyne Nzikobanyanka
Ahmad and Evelyne want a Habitat home because it will be a bigger, safer, quieter place to live. Evelyne is a CNA at Our Lady of the Valley and works a second job at Brandon Oaks on the weekends. Ahmad is 10 years old and in the 5th grade at Westside School where he is an honor roll student, a member of the safety patrol, step team, and debate team. They have been in the US for five years, escaping from the war in Burundi, by way of Tanzania.
Ahmad looks forward to a new home as a place where he can play with his toys and won’t make a mess and the family can have a garden.
Evelyne, a lifelong learner, studies English with a tutor at Blue Ridge Literacy, and her story, “Never Give Up,” was recently featured in BRL’s annual report booklet (See "Never Give Up" on the right).
