BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Proposed new township development called Darul Hana
comprises the redevelopment of 12 traditional Malay villages
located along Sungai Sarawak, starting from the new Sarawak
Legislative Assembly Complex to parts of Bintawa.
Darul Hana is conceived as a series of neighbourhoods
linked by nodes of activities defined by linear parkland areas
extending across valleys and ridgetops. The vision for Darul
Hana is to see it evolve into a sustainable new township.
Key features include the addition of another pedestrian
bridge across the Sarawak River apart from the alreadyannounced upcoming S-shaped Golden Bridge, a new civic
centre, a commercial precinct as well as adaptive reuse of
village houses as tourism products.
The affected villages are Kampung Boyan, Kampung
Gersik, Kampung Sourabaya Ulu, Kampung Sourabaya
Hilir, Kampung Semarang, Kampung Pulo Ulu, Kampung
Pulo Hilirm, Kampung Bintawa Ulu, Kampung Bintawa Hilir,
Kampung Bintawa Tengah, Kampung Panglima Seman Ulu and
Kampung Panglima Seman Hilir.
Presently, the villages cover approximately 300ha but
the redevelopment would more than double the Darul Hana
area to over 721ha
The development project is projected to be completed
within a period of 10 to 15 years.
