A Cultural, Procedural, and Organizational Shift to Zero Trust
practice, rather than constructing similar designs new each time that leads to shared knowledge and lower costs. This includes:
• Implement new ZT Standard Operating Procedures( SOPs): Develop and document clear and consistent procedures for new common tasks and processes. Encourage suggestions for SOP improvements.
• Provide Resources and Support: Ensure that employees have the necessary training, awareness, and vendor engineering services resources on the ZT topic to support to championing, ongoing design and implementation, and changes to organizational methods effectively.
• Provide Vendor Support: This includes hands on and one on one training as needed. The authors recommend onsite engineering services where a vendor engineer is local to the installation team.
• Regularly Review and Improve: Continuously evaluate and refine organizational processes as systems move away from legacy designs to ZT ensures effective and efficient delivery.
3 TRANSPARENT COLLABORATION AND COMMUNICATION
While embarking on a collaborative journey encouraging organization methods, organizations must prioritize collaboration as a core value, invest in leadership development, empower employees, leverage technology, perform industry training and conferences, and measure progress. The author cannot say this enough“ listen to employees” and then take action based on their needs for better ZT understanding and knowledge. Creating a ZT collaborative culture is like building a bridge between departments and employees to leadership that will fill any technology gaps that could cost a great deal of budget to fix later. This requires strong leadership foundations, continuous improvement maintenance, and a shared vision broadly and deep within the organization. By doing so, they can create a culture where innovation thrives, employees are engaged( not struggling), and customers benefit from improved products and services. Starting with the leadership support offers a sense of trust that will make greater strides with the employees to implement the vision.
Building trust among employees in offering them the time and material to embrace the ZT vision and new technology, fosters an organizational understanding of the ZT being implemented( i. e. people, process and technology), as well as instilling faith that they are not alone in learning this new technology and the amount of change to the organization. This encourages active participation in maintaining an organization perspective and agreement by openly explaining the rationale behind ZT policies, addressing concerns, and providing regular updates on implementation progress, ultimately leading to better user adoption that is more successful.
