Texas Builders meet in Galveston , Barde gets Presidential award

The Texas Association of Builders ( TAB ) held its Fall board meeting and installation / awards dinner November 14-16 in Galveston Island . The annual meeting brought together twenty-six local associations to meet and discuss ongoing and fresh issues related to new home construction .
Attending from El Paso was Randy Bowling , past TAB President , Jacob Barde , Lower East Valley , LLC , and Executive Officer Ray Adauto . The meeting was held at the waterfront San Luis Resort , owned by famed entrepreneur Tilman Fertitta , owner of Landry ’ s , the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas , and the Houston Rockets among numerous other entities .
The installation of Don Allen , Aberdeen Land Company LLC , Fort Worth , as the 2024 TAB President took place on Wednesday night as did the “ of the Year ” awards . In the Association Accomplishment of the Year , the El Paso Association of Builders took the trophy for the Builders Outlook app . ( See Ray ’ s editorial ).
Prior to the regular Board meeting the next day our own Jacob Barde won a Presidential Distinguished Award for his tireless contribution during legislative session on the RCLA legislation and other work . “ I ’ m honored and surprised to get this acknowledgement from President Donnie Evans ,” Barde told the Outlook .
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Turkey drive success , again
The annual EPAB turkey drive was held during November to benefit the Colonia Project of the local Texas A & M Research Center . The donations included the traditional turkey , with a basket of assorted traditional and local flavor fixings .
“ Our association members are Blessing over 70 families this Thanksgiving Day , sharing with the community that gives us the opportunity ,” Delton Deal told the Builders Outlook . “ Our goal is always to move forward , with at least one more family to give to each year ,” President Deal continued .
Angelique Roman , Associates Vice President , was thankful for the outpouring of support . “ We do this because we can and as you know our community has many people who struggle every day , so taking one worry away is important to them ,” she said .
The project at TAMRC vetted the recipients and does the actual distribution . “ I ’ d like to thank everyone who helped , by donating the food or helping to get the meals to the Research center ,” Angelique reiterated .
