even realising they are doing it and
swept along by the general tide —
“force” things to be exaggerated
externally and aesthetically. And when
they can’t be done that way – because
of age, physical decline, injuries or many
other reasons – the result is that many
people stop practising, so they no
longer reap the benefits that could be
obtaining both internally and physically.
Striving to be the best does people no
favours in the long run. If, on the other
hand, you strive for physical
effectiveness when practising, for
personal defence and mental and
spiritual benefits that make us happier,
the external aes ]X
