PLAYER OF THE GAME
NO. 6 – DE TONY BRACKENS
Former Jaguars DE Tony Brackens was
selected as No. 6 on the Jaguars All-25
presented by Sharpie, a collection of the top
25 non-active players in franchise history, as
voted on by members of the local media.
Brackens was originally selected by
Jacksonville in the second round (33rd
overall) of the 1996 NFL Draft and played his
entire career for the Jaguars from 1996-2003.
He was named to the Pro Bowl following the
1999 season after posting 12.0 sacks and eight
forced fumbles. His career totals of 55.0 sacks,
28 forced fumbles and 13 fumble recoveries
are all franchise records for the Jaguars.
Brackens holds the franchise record with eight
consecutive games with a sack during the
2001 season.
Brackens played collegiately at the University
of Texas from 1992-95 and was an All-America
selection as a senior in 1995 after leading the
Longhorns to a 10-1 record and a berth in the
Sugar Bowl. His 24.0 career sacks rank eighth
in school history.
“I think he might be the most legitimate game
wrecker the Jaguars have ever had on the
defensive side of the ball,” said Gene Frenette,
columnist for the Florida Times-Union.
“If there was one guy that would keep an
offensive coordinator not sleeping at night in
Jaguars history, he might be my fi rst choice.”
Brackens currently lives on his ranch in
Fairfi eld, Texas, where he and his wife,
Candace, are raising three children – Aidan,
McKinna and Tristan.
